Beacon House Falcons Football Team Wins Pop Warner League Super Bowl in Florida

The Beacon House Falcon Football Team, of the 75 lb. “Jr. Pee Wee" division,  beat the Liberty City Warriors 19-0 in Orlando, Florida to win the Pop Warner Super Bowl Division I Championship Title this past Saturday, December 11.

Beacon House, is a non-profit after-school tutoring, mentoring, cultural and recreational center for low-income, at-risk children in Ward 5.  After qualifying for the Super Bowl, Beacon Hill asked the community for donations to help them travel to Florida.  The community responded, and Beacon Hill got to compete, and ultimately brought the title home to D.C..

“Our team played a strong and disciplined game," Ty Johnson, the Falcons Head Coach, said.  "We are all very proud of them."

In a city filled with big-named, over-payed athletes, Beacon House's championship story truly is a breath of fresh air.
