Free Opera Concert at Nationals Ballpark

The Washington National Opera will host their third-annual "Target FREE Opera in the Outfield" at Nationals Park on Sunday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m..

Last year's event attracted about 19,000 people.  The Free Opera is a truly unique concert.  The show, Verdi's A Masked Ball (Un Ballo in Maschera), will be simulcast on the Nationals' stadium jumbotron.

Admission is, as the title of the event implies, completely free of charge.

"Our free simulcasts are Washington National Opera's gift to the city and to the public, in great thanks for all their support," said Placido Domingo, the Opera's General Director.

In addition to the free showing of Verdi's opera, there will also be a songwriting contest.  Attendees will have the opportunity to write they're own opera lyrics, with the winner getting to see their song performed live.
