Summer's Hottest Song Comes To Us From...A Middle School in Anacostia?
People

This is awesome.  Like really awesome.

In an effort to encourage kids to read books during their summer vacation, Greg Dohmann, a teacher at Friendship Tech Prep Middle School in Anacostia, and his students made this music video, "Read a Book", to the beat of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now".

“Over the last three weeks of school we wrote the song, recorded, and fimed it," Dohmann said. “School morale after we show one of those videos is at an all-time high.  They feel good about themselves...it's great for school culture.”

Some observations after watching "Read a Book":

  • The brief cameo of the student trying to "get into Tech Prep" during Jazmine's intro is hilarious.
  • The "Read A Book" dance will be seen at concerts throughout the District in the near future.
  • The "Flippin' Paper" line is classic.
  • The kid Kahree might actually have a future in music if he chooses to pursue it; he raps with a shockingly smooth flow.
