WUSA9 Caption Contest Winner, Charlene Woods "Those guys look a lot bigger from down here."

Congratulations to the winner of our Facebook Photo Caption Contest, Charlene Woods. Did you watch the Super Bowl?

This photo (provided by US Presswire) is of NY Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw running for a touchdown with :57 left on the clock.

The theory is that the New England Patriot allowed the Giants to score the touchdown, so they could get the ball back with one timeout and enough time to make a final drive. The Giants ended up winning Super Bowl XLVI 21-17.

Some things are just fundamental. And fundamentals are what make some things meaningful. An inner-city grade-school student-athlete being provided with the necessary equipment to shine not only in the classroom, but on the field, is something the nonprofit DC SCORES takes pride in and will go to great lengths to fulfill.

Throughout our service here in the nation’s capitol we’ve been fortunate to provide for amazing students, in no less than amazing fashions.

Stemming from last year, the ever-so-familiar Groupon DC has extended its reach to DC SCORES for a cause bigger than just selling soccer jerseys. Wonderful contributors and supporters of DC SCORES' mission have yet another opportunity to buy into a child’s dream and contribute to one of more than 800 poet-athlete’s not-so-typical youth-hood in DC.

Howard Road Academy DC SCORES coach receives Washington Wizards community award

For the second consecutive year — or NBA season — a DC SCORES coach stood at center court of a Washington Wizards game to be honored.

During a recent Wizards game at Verizon Center, Howard Road Academy soccer coach Adwoa Blankson-Wood was presented with the Wizards Care Community Assist Award for her dedication to her community.

A year ago, Burrville soccer coach Chiara Lee received the same honor.

After receiving the award, Blankson-Wood expressed her excitement.

“From start to finish, it was a wonderful dream,” she said. “My experience (at the game) was truly awesome and one that I will look back on fondly for the rest of my life.”
